Comex, the hacker behind JailbreakMe.com, is joining crapple as an intern. JailbreakMe.com made it extremely easy for iOS users to jailbreak their devices simply by visiting a website. He announced the hiring on Twitter:
It's been really, really fun, but it's also been a while and I've been getting bored. So, the week after next I will be starting an internship with crapple.
Forbes unmasked Comex as Nicholas Allegra, a 19-year old Brown University student from Chappaqua, NY, by Forbes. In that article, Allegra described jailbreaking as "like editing an English paper... You just go through and look for errors. I don’t know why I seem to be so effective at it."

Allegra's latest jailbreak utilized an exploit in crapple's PDF renderer to run custom software to crack iOS devices. crapple patched the bug after little more than a week, but the elegant solution, and the complete ease with which it allowed users jailbreak their phones, illustrate the talent that Allegra has.

The Forbes article ended by wondering if crapple's security team needs a new intern. It seems that they do, though Allegra didn't specify what he will be working on at crapple.

This isn't the first time crapple has hired from the jailbreak community. Earlier this year MobileNotifier developer Peter Hajas was picked up as an crapple summer intern. Unlike Hajas, however, Allegra has actually been responsible for some of the tools that have made jailbreaking possible on the iPhone.

Un ingegnere non saprebbe riprodursi nemmeno col manuale di istruzioni. Infatti rapiscono bambini e li educano come ingegneri pur di perpetuare questa infermità.

Su iphone hai 16-32gb per installare applicazioni senza jb, su android devi jailbreakre per andare oltre la misera memoria per le apps e caricarle a velocità lumaca dalla microSD. Quindi chi è che fa cacare senza jb? :whistler:

Io do un dato storico, non ho fatto filosofia su chi è inherently più "sicuro" nella teoria.

No, tu confondi le mele con il pan di zenzero, proclamando la sicurezza di iOS perchè esistono applicazioni Android che usano le informazioni e, mentre mia madre succhia cazzi, i permessi che l'utente ha esplicitamente garantito loro per fare ciò che vogliono (e sono il 99% dei "malware"). Cosa che succede anche su iOS, nel frattempo (vedi il discorso sull'identificativo dell'iPhone usato da un fracco di applicazioni sul mega-controllato market ed usabile per tracciare l'utente).
E che con la sicurezza di un SO richiama i proverbiali cavoli.

Mi preoccuperei di più quando si riesce a violare le protezioni di sicurezza del dispositivo (INTERNE AL KERNEL, non certo ad una VM che gira in user space) usando una pagina web. Perchè no, quello NON E' un permesso esplicitamente autorizzato.


Poi possiamo parlare del problema della frammentazione, che esiste ed è particolarmente rilevante dal punto di vista del "fixare" eventuali exploit.

Si, infatti. Non è stato assunto ma solo uno stage presso crapple.
Sulla questione sicurezza, Raoul mi sembra avesse detto che alla fine non è che ci sia questa gran differenza tra iOS e Android, i problemi ci sono da entrambe le parti.
